Description
African Cape Reed Thatch Roof A combination of standard, heavy, ridge thatch tiles plus end caps to completely cover the roof frame. Each thatch tile has a series of clips bound into the top of the tile. The thatch tiles are simply clipped onto the roof frame. Roof Frame The thatch tiles are supported by a strong lightweight tubular metal roof frame. The oval roof frame (supplied in 6 sections) incorporates a series of 8mm round bars running at 320mm intervals. The bars are positioned so that each thatch tile has a 100mm uniform overlap. The thatch tiles are installed in layered courses starting from the bottom. The roof frame is professionally zinc plated in the UK and is guaranteed for 10 years. The African Cape Reed thatch is clearly visible from the inside. Timber Poles The roof frame is supported by 8 x 150mm (6 inch) "heart removed" redwood timber poles. The redwood timber poles are supplied as standard in 2.4m lengths. Redwood Timber Poles: The high quality redwood timber poles are supplied "heart removed". This means that they do not contain the centre knot or heart from the original tree. This enables us to guarantee that the redwood timber poles will not contain any major cracks or splits in the timber and will not develop any major cracks or splits over time with any extremes of temperature or changes in the weather conditions. All redwood timber poles are vacuum treated with Tanalith E wood preservative to ensure maximum weather protection (10 year guarantee against wood decay) and additionally pre treated with a brown wood preservative and water repellent treatment. Timber Ringbeam Headrails: The structure is supplied with 8 x redwood timber headrails. This timber ringbeam headrail runs around the top of the structure interlocking with each individual pole. Each pole is professionally machine routed at the correct depth and angle to allow the headrail sections to simply slot into position. The purpose of the timber headrails is to enable the fixing and use of the optional drop down canvas side panels. The timber headrails also allow for the concealment of wiring and the attachment of light fittings. Fixtures & Fittings Each structure is supplied complete with all the necessary fixtures, fittings, plans and instructions required to easily complete the assembly. Installation Each canopy can be easily assembled in a matter of a few hours using only basic tools. No specialist knowledge is required and it is simply a matter of fixing the various components together. The supporting timber poles should either be concreted into the ground or inserted into a timber deck to securely support the garden canopy structure.
