About Us

The inspiration for the African Thatch Company came from a holiday in South Africa. Passing through the game parks and admiring the stunning African thatched buildings we felt we wanted to capture some of the architecture and romance of Africa and bring it back home with us.

We initially purchased sufficient African cape reed thatch to enable us to construct a thatched gazebo in our own back garden. After numerous comments from family, friends and neighbours we decided to explore the possibility of turning our idea into a business.

After a long period of research and development a number of different prototypes were constructed and tested. After a further period of market research the African Thatch Company was born!

We believe our product range is one of the largest and highest quality currently available. We take pride in our ongoing research and we are regularly adding new designs, products and materials to our already exciting range.
