Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How long does it take before my canopy, gazebo or structure to be delivered

Our current lead times are between 1 and 3 weeks. The lead times depend upon which type of structure is ordered.

Q. How long does it take to erect one of your structures.

This depends on the size of the structure to be installed. The smaller structures can easily be erected within a day few and the larger structures two days.

Q. I am not sure what size thatched building to buy?

Customers who have purchased a smaller building often tell us they wished they had purchased a slightly larger structure. Obviously the size of the structure is dictated by the space available. The space will always be used, so it is advisable to purchase a unit that fits comfortably in the space available. We offer a wide range of sizes to suit every space. If you are replacing an existing building, you should consider whether to have the same size again or perhaps a larger one. You should also consider how you intend to use your thatched building. For example if you intend to purchase a hot tub and additionally want space to entertain, then an larger oval thatched structure would be more suitable.

Q. How should I maintain my thatched building?

All timbers used in the construction of our thatched buildings are pressure treated with Tanalith E wood preservative treatment. This treatment is the UK`s leading wood preservative treatment. Additionally the structures are `double soaked` in a brown wood treatment preservative. Eventually, over time, the timbers of the thatched building will turn to a silver grey colour. If you prefer to maintain a colour for your chosen structure, it should be treated with a good quality wood stain every 5-10 years. All major wood stain manufacturers offer suitable products in a choice of colours, available from local timber merchants and good hardware shops.

Q. Can I connect electricity to my thatched structure.?

Yes you can. Connecting an electrical supply to a thatched structure in your garden is a straightforward task. We would advise using a local electricain to run an armoured cabe directly to the structure - You can then use the power suppy to run any internal lighting or heating.

Q. Is planning permission required for my thatched building?

Please see: Planning Permission

Q. How much space do I need - What type of base is suitable for my gazebo?
