Weather Protection

Being a totally natural product, a cape reed thatch roof will allow any trapped heat or moisture to escape due to its ability to breath. African cape reed tiles provide 100% UV protection and are 99% waterproof.

For an added level of weather protection we offer a range of accessories including canvas drop down side panels and solid half round log sides.

All weather protection products are hand made specifically for use with our thatched structures.

Canvas Side Panels

Heavy duty waxed, 100% waterproof, rot resistant, waterproof canvas side panels. The canvas side panels are supplied in a natural beige colour which blends in perfectly with the African cape reed thatch tiles and the brown timbers of the thatched structures.

When not required each canvas side panel can be simply rolled up and secured to the opional timber headrails underneath the roof frame (Using the quick release roof straps provided with each canvas panel). When in use each canvas side panel is secured to the corresponding timber poles, through the brass eyets using elasticated ball bungee ties (Also included with each canvas panel).

Half Round Solid Wooden Log Sides

For a more permanent solution to enclosue your thatched structure you can choose our optional half round solid wooden log sides.

The solid log sides are very popular if you are overlooked by a neighbour and require some additional privacy or for those customers who own a hot tub or spa.

The solid log sides offer a private enclosure for you to enjoy your hot tub or spa all year round.

Note: The half round solid logs can be installed either horizontally or vertically.
